Socially useful and economically sustainable
All our accessories are handmade in merino wool, taking all the time it takes to create a special product!
Within the logic of participating in the relaunch of mountain economic activities, ELBEC has launched a project of Manifattura Diffusa (Spread Manifacture) for the creation of handmade merino wool products in Val Pettorina - Marmolada - Dolomites.
Anyone who knows how to crochet and knit can participate in the initiative by working from home, in the times and ways they prefer.
The idea is to contribute to the involvement of the people of the valley in a common project that enhances the human heritage and traditional manual skills that are slowly disappearing.
The products are made entirely by hand. We only supply the raw material by selecting the best, strictly certified wool. Both the extra fine merino wool and the cotton are organic and chlorine-free with GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and ICEA certification (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certifications) currently the highest quality in BIO yarns for knitwear.
Our extra fine Merino wool is carded, spun and dyed without chlorine in Italy while the fabrics are purchased from a New Zealand manufacturer that shares with us an approach attentive to environmental health with QZ certification.
The main part of our production is made with 100% Italian wool. If you are looking product made in Europe with less impacts, search among our merino wool beanies and find out more about its origin!
More details regarding the yarns, processes and certifications can be found in the description of the individual products
All the Merino wool we use is certified No Mulesing against the treatment of animals. The GOTS and ICEA certification assures the end user that the yarns have not undergone treatments with chemical substances at any stage of production. No pesticides on merino sheep, no herbicides on cotton plants!
