On this page we have collected a series of good practices and tips to take care of your products and preserve them over time.
Our products can be washed in the washing-machine - wool program without any problems. If your washing-machine has a delicate wool program you can safely use it as long as you deactivate the spin cycle or reduce it to a maximum of 400 rpm. We recommend a 30° C wash. Even if our yarns are certified for washing at 40° C, the life span of the product can be considerably extended by washing not so much and washing at a low temperature.
Always prefer organic and vegetable detergents designed for washing wool. This is important because the detergent specifically for wool does not contain proteases. These in fact dissolve the protein stains but at the same time also destroy the structure of the wool.
Do not use softeners with wool otherwise the risk is to ruin the fabric. We also advise against lanolin-based fabric softeners.
Do not wash our socks by turning them upside down. In fact, our socks always have the wool in contact with the skin and any synthetic yarns towards the outside. Turning them upside down would expose the natural yarn to greater wear during washing.
If you have time, remember that the best wash for wool is by hand, with a simple soak for about ten minutes, without rubbing and without excessively wringing the garments.
See washing instructions by garment category on this page.
Do not use the dryer but take out the still wet garments from the washing machine or from soaking, pat them dry or wrap them with a towel if necessary, then let them dry, preferably flat, away from sources of excessive heat.
Do not iron merino wool garments, unless you do it with a barely warm iron. Buytheway ... why should you ironing your socks?
... wool products, thanks to their antibacterial properties, do not need to be washed after each use. Often it is enough to let the garments dry in the air.
For our merino jersey wool accessories, it is very often sufficient to rinse with water at room temperature to remove sweat and allow to dry.
If you really want to know everything about washing wool even for garments such as sweaters or blankets, you can read our article that explains how to wash wool and in particular merino wool by hand or in the washing machine (unfortunately in italian) !
